Attached Machinery: Check Auto and Liability Policies Together

A source-linked starting point for a conversation with a qualified professional. Not a coverage determination or legal opinion.

01

The context

This is a policy-review checklist for vehicle-mounted equipment, not confirmation of any particular endorsement’s applicability. A form name alone cannot establish coverage.

02

Who should read this

Businesses operating boom trucks, hydrovacs, concrete pumps and other vehicle-mounted machinery.

03

What is known—and what depends on your situation

FSRA’s auto forms directory lists approved forms and editions. OPCF 25A (Alteration) records policy changes; it is not a general equipment floater. If your policy contains OPCF 30 or another attached-machinery exclusion, have its exact wording reviewed. Removing auto coverage does not itself create liability or equipment coverage elsewhere.

04

Questions to bring to your broker

Compare the issued auto policy, endorsement schedule, liability policy and equipment coverage. Distinguish road use, operation at a work site, injury or damage to others, and damage to the machinery itself.

05

A practical next step

Provide your broker with vehicle and machinery identifiers and an operational description. Request an explanation of each policy’s response and any gaps, rather than assuming two policies must overlap.

Sources and scope

Read the current source and its applicable edition. A linked form or statute does not establish the terms of your policy. Publication here is not evidence of an individual broker sign-off.
